The post will suit newly qualified therapists ortherapists keen to expand their experience working with children. The post willbe predominantly based in Sunderland although we work across South Tyneside andSunderland as one integrated team.
Please apply if you are keen to develop your skillsworking with children across community and specialist settings who have a broadrange of SLCN, including children with SEND and complex additional needs. You may also have opportunity to work withchildren with Developmental Language Disorder and Severe Speech SoundDisorders.
We are working with agencies and service usersacross systems to really try and improve the service to children with SLCN andSEND. This includes working with ourFamily Hubs, mainstream and specialist education settings, local authority andother health partners as well as commissioners.

You will haveexperience of working with children with a range of speech, language andcommunication difficulties, and be able to assess, plan and provideintervention and therapy within a range of settings. You will be well supported and bepart of a forward thinking department that provides a range of specialistservices and is always striving to be innovative and put research into practiceto improve patient outcomes. Our Childrens Speech and LanguageTherapy Team covers South Tyneside and Sunderland localities. There areexcellent links across the team with joint supervision and sharing practicesessions.

Towork as a Speech and Language Therapist(SALT) for Childrens Services.
Toprovide a clinical service to children with a wide range of speech,language and communication disorders.
Towork autonomously assessing, differentially diagnosing, prioritising,treating and discharging patients with advice/supervision from seniorclinicians
Toparticipate in clinical governance activity i.e. research, audit, evidencebased practice
Toliaise with and advise other agencies/professionals involved with thepatient.
Tocontribute to service planning, improvement and modernisation to ensurepatient safety
