Job description


This full time band 6 post provides the sucessful applicant with expanse of opportunities and experience as you will be working with both the Community Learning Disability Team and our inpatient Assessment and Treatment Unit, Eastway, both based at Chester. This will be a 50/50 split. Flexible working options can be discussed at interview.,

This post is suitable for a Speech and Language Therapist who is keen to extend their experience within the leardning disability field and work across two bases, inpatient and community. A passion for working with people with a learning disability is essential.

As a key member of both the Community Learning Disability Team and Eastway Assessment and Treatment inpatient team, you will develop person centred plans and work closely with service users and other member of the teams. You will have opportunities to develop your skills across a range of clinical areas including AAC, Total Communication, Higher level language difficulties and dysphagia.

You will join a team of Speech and Language Therapists who work in Learning Disability across CWP and meet regularly to develop and share good practice. You will benefit from taking part in regular quality clinical supervision.

As a qualified Speech and Language Therapist this role is to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with adults with a learning disability.

You will provide evidence based speech and language therapy assessment, treatment and intervention to service users who have learning disability and communication and/ or eating and drinking difficulties (dysphagia training will be provided as needed).

The post holder will apply their competence in core speech and language therapy skills to the learning disability field. The caseload will include supporting people with learning disabilities who experience a wide range of communication difficulties.

You will benefit from working alongside a wide range of professionals including other Speech and Language Therapists.
