Job summary

Inspire Neurocare in Basingstoke is seeking a motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our neuro-rehabilitation team. You will assess, diagnose, and treat adults with acquired neurological conditions, supporting communication, cognition, and swallowing across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop personalised treatment plans, supervise learners when required, and contribute to service development while maintaining high

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Experience with adults with neurological conditions including stroke and brain injury
  • Experience with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder
  • Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
  • Knowledge of evidence-based assessment and dysphagia intervention in neuro-rehab
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills within a MDT
  • Able to manage a caseload independently and prioritise workload
  • Commitment to person-centred and inclusive care

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication, cognitive-communication, and/or swallowing disorders from neurological conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized evidence-based treatment plans with service users and family
  • Deliver therapy across inpatient, outpatient, community, and home visit settings
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary goal setting, case discussions, and discharge planning
  • Provide education and advice to families and carers to support ongoing rehabilitation
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with requirements
  • Participate in service development, audits, and quality improvement
  • Supervise and mentor students, assistants, or junior staff as required
  • Ensure practice aligns with professional standards and safeguarding policies

Inspire Neurocare place the people we support at the heart of our service, and our main aim is to empower recovery and restore lives by providing life changing neurorehabilitation and specialist care for people living with complex neurological conditions, brain and spinal injuries, strokes, early onset dementia and progressive neurological conditions.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our neuro-rehabilitation team. The post holder will provide high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with acquired neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, progressive neurological disorders, and other complex presentations.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to holistic, person-centred rehabilitation programmes that support communication, cognition, and swallowing, enabling individuals to maximise independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication, cognitive-communication, and/or swallowing disorders resulting from neurological conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with service users, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver therapy across a range of settings (e.g. inpatient, outpatient, community, home visits as appropriate).
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary goal setting, case discussions, and discharge planning.
  • Provide education, training, and advice to families, carers, and other professionals to support ongoing rehabilitation.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with service and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support students, assistants, or junior colleagues as required.
  • Ensure practice is in line with professional standards, safeguarding policies, and relevant legislation.
Your Skills and Expertise:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working with young adults with complex neurological needs, including cerebral palsy (CP) and other lifelong neurological conditions.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Experience working with adults with neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, brain injury, neurodegenerative disease).
  • Previously worked supporting individuals who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ACC), communication devices and other assistive communication technology
  • Knowledge and application of evidence-based assessment and intervention for communication and/or dysphagia in neuro-rehabilitation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and inclusive practice.
