Job description

We are looking for a therapist with paediatric experience to join our supportive, innovative, and diverse team.

We have an opportunity to work in a new Early Intervention Provision alongside work with either children under five years of age or in schools. It is a full-time position consisting of two days in an under-5s setting for children with additional needs, as well as three days in either our under-5s Early Language team or Primary Schools team. The Early Language team supports children with communication needs that are not associated with social communication differences, and the Primary Schools team supports children with a wide range of communication needs.

The post holder is an autonomous practitioner, providing assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, and a variety of intervention programmes in the management of the under 5s and / or school-aged caseloads.

The post holder provides clinical support to less experienced colleagues, as well as providing day-to-day supervision of bilingual speech and language therapy (SLT) co-workers involved in providing a service to preschool / Early Years Foundation Stage / primary school-aged children managed by speech and language therapy.

This specific post will be working in one or two teams in the first instance


1. School buy in service – specifically working in an newly set up Early Intervention Provision. This will be supporting children, their parents and school staff who will be attending nursery and reception at this provision. These children will have a range of speech, language and communication needs, including autism, social communication differences, suspected Developmental Language Disorder and learning difficulties.

2. School buy in service or Early Language Team. The Early Language Team supports children in the community up to the end of Reception who have difficulties with comprehension, expression, or speech, but have neurotypical social communication. If the postholder works in the school buy in service, they will be supporting children in primary schools up to Year 6 with a range of communication needs.
