Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join the Education and Inclusion Therapy Service. This term-time, permanent role involves delivering assessments and targeted therapy for children and young people, in collaboration with schools, families and partner agencies.

You will work in a collaborative, supportive team across Hampshire with hybrid working arrangements, ongoing professional development, and a strong focus on improving learning outcomes.

The Role:

Joining our supportive and forward-thinking Education and Inclusion Therapy Service as a Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. In this rewarding and varied role, you’ll help deliver Hampshire Local Area Partnership's Experts at Hand offer, providing therapeutic expertise for children and young people from early years through to post-16 education.
You'll collaborate closely with education professionals, families and partner agencies to provide consultation, advice, training and targeted therapeutic input. You’ll help to build workforce confidence and promote inclusive practice, helping ensure children and young people receive the right support at the right time, reducing barriers to learning and participation and improving outcomes.

This term-time only role offers an excellent work-life balance and a salary broadly equivalent to NHS Band 6. We also welcome applications from Newly Qualified Therapists, who would receive a salary of £33,104 per annum, broadly equivalent to NHS Band 5.

What you’ll do:

• Provide Speech and Language Therapy assessments and evidence-based interventions for children and young people.
• Work collaboratively with education staff, families and multi-agency professionals to develop and implement effective, meaningful support plans.
• Deliver Speech and Language Therapy support as part of Hampshire Local Area Partnership's Experts at Hand offer across a range of educational settings and age groups.
• Support capacity-building within schools and educational settings through consultation, training and whole-school communication approaches.
• Participate in service development, quality improvement initiatives and contribute to policy development.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, ensuring compliance with professional, regulatory and organisational standards.
• Travel across Hampshire to deliver services, with caseloads allocated predominantly within your geographical area.

What we’re looking for:

• A qualified Speech and Language Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience of, and a strong passion for, supporting children and young people across education, NHS or community settings, with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• Strong understanding of clinical governance, confidentiality, and professional standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with schools, families and professionals.
• A flexible, proactive and reflective approach, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development, clinical excellence and reflective practice.
• Confidence using IT systems for clinical documentation, reporting and service management.

Travel Requirements:
