Job summary

REESON Education is recruiting a Speech and Language Therapist for an Outstanding specialist college in Hillingdon on a maternity cover contract. The role focuses on 16+ students with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, delivering person-centred therapy within a supportive MDT and transitions planning.

You will assess, deliver AAC, and coach staff to support independence and communication aims in an education setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration.
• Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
• Experience supporting young people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
• Experience with communication assessments, AAC and eating and drinking.

Responsibilities

• Assess communication, eating and drinking needs using formal and informal assessments.
• Manage own clinical caseload independently.
• Deliver universal and individual Speech and Language Therapy interventions.
• Support students through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
• Coach, mentor and train teaching and support staff.
• Work with families, schools and external professionals for successful transitions.
• Promote independence, inclusion and positive outcomes for learners.

Education

Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent)

Working with young adults aged 16+ with learning disabilities, autism and complex communication needs, you'll play a vital role in helping students develop the communication, independence and life skills they need to thrive beyond education.

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you'll work within a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering creative, person-centred therapy that makes a lasting difference.

Your responsibilities

• Assessing communication, eating and drinking needs using formal and informal assessments.
• Managing your own clinical caseload independently.
• Delivering both universal and individual Speech and Language Therapy interventions.
• Supporting students through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
• Coaching, mentoring and training teaching and support staff.
• Working closely with families, schools, employers and external professionals to ensure successful transitions.
• Promoting independence, inclusion and positive outcomes for every learner.
