Job summary

Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join our evolving service for children and young people. You will work under the Team Leader to assess, plan and implement speech and language interventions, mentoring carers and staff to support language development in diverse settings.

The post requires HCPC registration and completion of NQT competencies, with a focus on improving outcomes and reducing waiting times within our innovative NHS service.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Team Leader, some of your responsibilities will include:

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and Health Professions Council
• Must have completed NQT competencies

Experience

• Experience of working with children with speech, language and communication difficulties. This includes pre-qualification experience and also experienced gained whilst on student placement.
• Experience of working with relatives and carers.
• Experience working as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist with children with communication difficulties.
• Experience of providing advice on client management to other health professionals, carers and non-specialist health colleagues.
• Experience of working in educational settings.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions appropriate for including those with complex needs.
• Knowledge of Education Health Care Plans and SEN processes.
• Knowledge of professional and clinical guidelines relevant to the client group.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance, audit and required standards of record keeping.
• Understanding of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group).
