The Band 5 post will be supported by senior staff to ensurethat the successful applicant develops a broad range of dysphagia andcommunication competencies that meet the Royal College of Speech and LanguageTherapy standards. The successful candidate will also benefit from additionalsupport as part of CDDFT Preceptorship programme.

Weare looking for a well-organised therapist who would like to develop post-basicdysphagia and communication rehab skillswith an interesting neurological caseload in a range of acute and communitysettings including nursing homes, residential homes, domiciliary visiting andout-patients. The successful candidate will hold a degree in Speech andLanguage Therapy, be registered with the Health Professionals Council and becommitted to continuing professional development. We will provide professionaldevelopment opportunities to enable career development and support completionof NQP competencies. The Trust also offers a preceptorship programme which isproven to help support and develop new staff with a carousel of CPDopportunities

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

The Speechand Language Therapy Service offers a supportive team of experiencedcolleagues allowing ready-access to support second opinions and ongoing peersupervision to deliver evidence-based practise assessment and therapy topatients across all settings. You willhelp supervise speech and language therapy students, as well as contribute tothe delivery of teaching programmes to a wide range of communityprofessionals enhancing patient care.
