Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist looking to join our innovative service supporting adults in the community? You will provide specialist speech and language therapy to people with a range of complex medical conditions and associated problems, completing visits in patient’s homes and outpatient clinics. You will receive one-to-one clinical support, professional development, and regular supervision, giving you the opportunity to further develop your skills in various clinical areas such as our weekly Videofluoroscopy clinic and dysphagia management. You will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams within community services, including Physiotherapy, Community Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Social Workers.
Please note: this is a full-time post.
You will engage in clinical triage of new referrals, using advanced clinical reasoning and interpretation skills to analyze complex clinical and non-clinical information to prioritize clinical urgency. You will complete assessments of swallowing and communication disorders as required, contribute to patient diagnoses, and recommend the most appropriate SaLT interventions. Communicating sensitively and effectively with patients and/or carers to promote understanding and ensure inclusion in decision-making is essential. You will take responsibility for your own caseload in line with your experience and competence, reflecting and evaluating your practice and participating in supervision with colleagues.
