Speech and Language Therapist

We are very excited to be looking for a new Band 5 SLT to join our team! Applications welcome from enthusiastic SLTs looking to provide excellent patient care to adults with swallowing, communication and voice problems. This is a split post working with adult inpatients with communication and swallowing problems and outpatients with voice disorders. You will receive regular supervision and CPD opportunities. Dysphagia training will be provided. There is also an opportunity to work with patients with dysfluency should this be desired, though this is not an essential part of this role.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Responsibilities

To assess, diagnose and manage adults with acquired disorders of dysphagia, voice and/or communication as inpatients or outpatients.

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team where appropriate, attending ward meetings, case conferences and outpatient

To liaise with other professionals, families, carers and volunteers, and to provide clinical/professional information relevant to patient management

To be responsible for organising and prioritising own delegated caseload seeking advice from senior within the specific areas as appropriate.

Following patient discharge, to liaise with colleagues regarding the provision of continued treatment as necessary.

To maintain adequate case notes, reports and correspondence.

To contribute to health improvement initiatives as appropriate.

To deliver the service according to departmental and professional standards of care.

To participate in training as required within the recognised need of the Speech and Language Therapy Department disseminating information from courses, literature, etc and taking an act in peer group clinical seminars.

To be involved in SLT Student education as appropriate.

To provide teaching, supervision and evaluation of SLT students weekly placements if required by the line manager. This would only be considered two years post qualification.
