We are proud to be Cambridgeshire’s first state-maintained Autism Specialist school and the world’s first IB special school. Following our Outstanding Ofsted rating in March 2024, we are expanding our provision and are now looking for a, passionate, and innovative Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic therapy and wellbeing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a forward-thinking, trauma-informed, and inclusive settingthat puts pupil wellbeing at the heart of everything we do. Our pupils are autistic, each with their own strengths and challenges, and our mission — Enabling the Self — is to ensure they leave school confident, self-aware, and ready for the future.

About the Role

As a Speech and Language Therapist at The Cavendish School, you will play a key role in:

  • Delivering both direct and indirect therapy across a caseload of autistic pupils with complex communication needs
  • Supporting pupils within our purpose-built, enriching therapeutic environment — including sensory regulation spaces and therapy rooms
  • Working collaboratively with class teams to model and embed communication strategies into everyday teaching and learning
  • Creating robust, evidence-based reports to support EHCP reviews and ongoing provision planning
  • Contributing to the training and development of school staff and our extended community
  • Shaping and evolving whole-school communication practices as part of a committed multidisciplinary team

We are looking for someone who believes that autism is not a limitation, but a different way of thinking and experiencing the world — and who is passionate about unlocking each pupil’s voice in whatever form that may take.
