Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting five Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists to deliver Universal and Targeted Level input within our established team. You will provide specialist triage, assessment, and treatment for children and young people with diverse communication needs, in clinics, education settings and family hubs.

You will develop leadership by supervising colleagues, educating students, and delivering training to the wider children’s workforce.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (will also consider if expecting degree results imminently)
• Knowledge of up-to-date assessment tools relevant to the client group
• Awareness of national policies and procedures relevant to the client group
• Awareness of clinical governance / audit principles
• Knowledge of diverse client groups and equality issues

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist triage, assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment and discharge recommendations for children and young people with communication needs
• Assess, treat and review children in face-to-face appointments
• Deliver training to wider children’s workforce on communication disorders
• Work across clinics, education settings, family hubs and children's centres

Following the Governments SEND reforms we have an exciting opportunity for five Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists to join our established team to deliver Universal and Targeted Level input as part of the Expert at Hand model. We offer robust management supervision, regular team meetings, great clinical support and training opportunities. You will develop leadership skills by providing management supervision to other team members. You will educate and enrich student learning experiences as a clinical educator. Evidence-based practice is embedded and CPD is actively encouraged. We work across education settings, clinics and Family Hubs with parents, carers, education staff and other professionals. Main duties of the job

• Take your place with us providing specialist triage, assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment and discharge recommendations to a range of children and young people with a range of communication needs
• You will provide specialist assessment for children and young people with a range of needs
• You will assess, treat and review children in face-to-face appointments
• You will have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with children and families, other team members and health and education staff
• You will have excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
• You will work in clinics, education settings, children's centres and family homes
• You will drive continuous improvement with your innovation and passion for developing new ways of working

• HCPC Registration - Licence to Practise

• Relevant experience at an undergraduate/post graduate level
• Knowledge and demonstrated use of up-to-date assessment tools relevant to the client group.
• Knowledge of national policies and procedures (relevant to the client group).
• Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group).
• Awareness of the principles clinical governance / audit.
• Awareness of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group).
• An understanding of the issues affecting an inner-city community.
• Detailed knowledge of Statistical interpretation
• Awareness of standards of record keeping
• To demonstrate an awareness and understanding of supporting equality and valuing diversity within their role.
