Gateshead Health is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist for a fixed 12‑month maternity cover. The post involves assessing, diagnosing and treating adults with communication disorders across care homes, clinics and patients' homes.
You will work within the MDT, provide family training, and ensure documentation and CPD activities are up to date. HCPC registration and RCSLT membership are required.
We have an opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team for a fixed period of 12 months. This position is to cover a maternity leave and the successful applicant will assess, diagnose and treat people with communication difficulties in a number of settings including care homes, clinics and patients' own homes.
Conduct formal and informal assessments for adults with acquired communication disorders.
Formulate differential diagnoses with support from senior SLTs as required.
Provide evidence-based, goal-oriented communication therapy.
Consider and provide AAC as appropriate.
Work closely with the MDT including carers, GPs and others.
Provide training and advice to family members, carers and other healthcare staff.
Maintain accurate, timely clinical notes and write clinical reports.
Participate in clinical supervision and CPD activities.
