Job summary

Role details

Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Brookthorpe Hall School, Gloucestershire
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to overlap with core school hours (part-time considered)
Contract: Permanent (term time only, or flexibility around full-time can be discussed)

Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience)

What you will do
  • Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the education team and follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, while taking into account governing and professional body requirements.
  • Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from your clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Support the development of an enhanced speech and language therapy offer, including growth of apprentices, students and therapy assistants.
Essential Criteria
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered; 1-2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT, in a similar setting
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working in multiple settings
  • Experience of communicating with/working with families, relatives or carers
  • Interest in developing knowledge across areas of SaLT practice
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgment skills; good oral and written communication
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice; understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and ability to formulate support plans
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation for clinical practice and client group management
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable
  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication
  • Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal and communication
  • Full driving licence and access to a car (highly desirable)
