Role details

Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist

Location: Bankside College – Worcestershire WR8 0AD

Salary: £33,000 pro rata (dependent on experience)

*Please note - basic grade SALT offers from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+ & Highly specialist from £48,000+*

Hours: 15 hours per week, Flexible on which 2 days are selected

Contract: Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on your personal circumstances)

Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

The role

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Bankside College school. You will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding your practice within an education setting and clarifying roles and responsibilities while considering the requirements of governing and professional bodies. You will hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation as required. This post would suit a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.

Location: Bankside College – Worcestershire WR8 0AD (Bankside College forms part of our Options Autism brand and is an independent specialist day school for ages 16–24).

Essential criteria
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy (BSc Hons)
  • HCPC registered
  • 1–2 years experience as a fully registered RCSLT member in a similar setting
  • Experience engaging with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting
  • Experience communicating with families/relatives and carers
  • Interest in developing knowledge and skills across SaLT practice
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgment skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, time management and organisation
  • Competent in core SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT communication standards
  • Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, interventions, and formulating support plans
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car
Desirable
  • Understanding of sensory and motor factors affecting communication
  • Understanding of arousal levels and their relationship to communication
