A leading NHS foundation trust in Barnsley is seeking a motivated Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work with adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues. The role involves assessing communication needs and providing vital support in a multidisciplinary team. We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Intensive Support Team (IST). We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work with adults with a learning disability and mental health problems and/or behaviours of concerns, who are at risk of placement breakdown or hospital admission and require intensive input from a multidisciplinary team. This can be a development post for a band 5 to 6.
The successful candidate would offer speech and language input to vulnerable clients and receive job satisfaction of knowing you are making a significant impact on a person\'s quality of life by helping those around them to understand them.
The post will be based at the Mapplewell Centre, which has a specialist sensory room and a rebound therapy room. The service is open Monday to Friday 9 to 5. We offer flexible working hours and an agile working policy.
The IST is part of the Community Learning Disability Health Team, with strong emphasis on multidisciplinary working and links with partner agencies including the local authority and ICB, as well as local care providers. We are a specialist NHS Foundation Trust that provides community, mental health and learning disability services for Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield, and lead the West Yorkshire secure provider collaborative.
