Full time: 40 hours a week

Location: Cygnet Pindar House, Upper Sheffield Road, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S70 4PL

- Pippa Joseph, Clinical Lead SLT for Neuropsychiatry at Cygnet Group

About Pindar House

Cygnet Pindar House is a 22-bed Neuropsychiatric care and treatment facility for men affected by acquired brain injuries. It is a safe and secure place to aid recovery as well as offering those diagnosed with a progressive neurological disease an opportunity to help manage the progression of their symptoms.

At Cygnet Group, our reputation for quality and innovation makes us an excellent choice at this key time in your career. In your role as an SLT in our team, you will be enabled to build your clinical knowledge, skills and experience, through the implementation of evidence-based practices whilst making a real difference to individuals' outcomes. The role also offers plenty of scope to develop broader skills in clinical audit, quality improvement and service development work.

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with:

  • A Diploma/Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and current (or pending) registration with HCPC and membership of professional body (RCSLT)
  • Strong clinical and professional skills
  • Experience or keen interest in the field of neurological conditions
  • Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others
  • Good organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Enthusiasm, motivation and passion

Five reasons why you should make an application today:

  1. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will assess, diagnose and play a key role in the management of men with acquired brain injuries, behaviours that challenge and other diagnosed / undiagnosed conditions. Under the guidance of the supervising SLT, you will be able to train others, promote good practice and maintain a successful inclusive communication environment. Low caseload numbers enable you to provide focused support.
  2. You will have the opportunity to progress your career under the guidance of an experienced clinical supervisor and clinical team.
  3. We offer additional support to newly and recently qualified SLTs through the delivery of a development programme, which will enable you to develop your knowledge and skills and evidence your RCSLT NQP goals.
  4. You will have access to the resources you need to deliver the highest quality service and maintain an inclusive communication environment.
  5. You will have access to a network of over 50 SLTs in the Cygnet Group working within different specialisms including Neuropsychiatry, Learning Disability, Autism and inpatient CAMHS.

In return we'll offer you:

  • Excellent Clinical Supervision, Peer Support, CPD and development opportunities
  • Support in developing and evidencing NQP SLT goals, including access to the Cygnet NQP and Band 5 Forum
  • Support in continuing to develop Dysphagia competencies
  • Generous annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)
