Overview
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Acorn Park School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guiding your practice within an education setting and outlining your roles and responsibilities while considering the requirements of governing and professional bodies. This post involves holding a Speech and Language therapy caseload with full support from your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and contributing to staff training and consultation as required. Responsibilities
- Hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team within an education setting.
- Support the development of pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs through bespoke assessments and interventions.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registered.
- 1-2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT, in a similar setting.
- Experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
- Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working across varied settings.
- Experience communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers.
- Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice.
- Good relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills; good communication (oral and written); good time management and organisational skills.
- Competent in core SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
- Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types, and how to formulate support plans based on needs profiles.
- Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management relating to the client group.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
- Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
- Desirable: understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication.
- Desirable: understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
