Job summary

Sencare Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist for an in-house clinical team at a special needs school in Ashburton, Devon. You will deliver bespoke SaLT assessments and interventions to pupils with diverse needs, working under supervision and contributing to staff training.

The role requires HCPC and RCSLT registration, a driving licence, and a passion for developmental trauma, neurodiversity, and SEMH needs.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at a special needs school on Ashburton, Devon TQ13

Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working. This will guide your practice within an education setting and clarify your roles and responsibilities, while taking into account the requirements of your governing and professional bodies. You will be given responsibility for holding a Speech and Language therapy caseload, with the full support of your designated clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician, also contributing to staff training and consultation as required. This post would suit a resilient, creative and enthusiastic individual.

Essential Criteria:
  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registered, and registered with the RCSLT
  • Evidence of expert level knowledge, skill and expertise in specialist areas of practice relevant to the cohort of pupils in OFG services
  • Some relevant experience in a previously held job of engaging and working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles
  • Some knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma informed practice
  • Some experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings
  • Some experience of communicating with/working with families/relatives and carers
  • An interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice
  • Good relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
  • Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, types of intervention and knowledge of how to formulate support plans based on needs profile
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Willingness to attend training and working towards further qualifications relevant to the client group supporting
  • Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: (covering Ashburton & Newton House sites) – Devon TQ13 7EP
Salary: Up to £53,200 FTE DOE plus £3000 Welcome Bonus (Welcome Bonus is payable as one payment of £1,500 after completion of one month and one further payment of £1,500 upon completion of your final probation period. T&C's Apply)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday: 8:30am - 16:30pm
Contract: Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on your personal circumstances)
Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
