Job summary

The Oval Partnership is seeking a Specifications Technologist to join an established food manufacturing business in South Wales. This hybrid, office-based role (2 days WFH after probation) will bridge Technical, NPD and Commercial teams to ensure product specifications, ingredient declarations and pack artwork are accurate and compliant.

You will work closely with a Senior Specifications Technologist from day one.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in food manufacturing in a technical / NPD admin or specifications role.

Responsibilities

• Create, review and maintain product specifications on retailer systems and portals.
• Generate ingredient declarations and ensure pack artwork complies with labelling guidelines and regulations.
• Collaborate with NPD and Technical teams to dispatch testing samples for FTP deadlines.
• Assist with internal and external audits and handle retailer technical queries.
• Review specifications whenever recipe, supplier, ingredient or process changes occur.

Job description

The Oval Partnership is recruiting a Specifications Technolgist to join an established food manufacturing business in the South Wales area.

This is an office-based role, 2 days WFH following a successful probation period.

Working closely with a Senior Specifications Technologist, you will be a vital link between Technical, NPD, and Commercial teams, ensuring that all product specifications, ingredient declarations, and pack artwork are accurate, compliant, and delivered right the first time.

Key Responsibilities

• Specification Management: Create, review, and maintain accurate product specifications on various retailer systems and portals to meet critical launch paths.
• Artwork & Labelling Compliance: Generate ingredient declarations and ensure pack artwork complies with current food labelling guidelines, legal regulations, and brand standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with NPD and Technical teams to ensure testing samples (nutritional, cooking, shelf-life) are dispatched for verification to achieve File to Print (FTP) deadlines.
• Audit & Customer Support: Assist with internal and external BRCGS food safety audits, manage customer technical queries directly, and present specifications during site visits.
• Data Integrity: Review and update specifications whenever recipe, supplier, ingredient, or process changes occur.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: At least 2 years experience in food manufacturing within a technical / NPD admin or specifications role.
• Technical Expertise: Proven hands-on experience with major retailer specification portals and systems.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of BRCGS standards, UK food legislation, and food labelling requirements.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and comfortable managing stakeholder and retailer communications directly
