Job overview

We are excited to advertise a role ideal for an Occupational Therapist seeking to gain further experience in a specialty clinical area, consolidating and developing previous experience. You will deliver occupational therapy care to inpatients and collaborate with Occupational Therapy and Macmillan Therapy colleagues to assess, rehabilitate, and discharge patients across the oncology and haematology wards. Patients are admitted for elective chemotherapy, emergency admissions with new diagnoses or treatment complications, or those requiring palliative and end-of-life care.

The Churchill Hospital is a centre of excellence for cancer and haematology services, including renal services, transplants, clinical and medical oncology, dermatology, haemophilia, and palliative care. It is part of Oxford University Hospitals, one of the UK's largest acute teaching Trusts and a leading tertiary cancer centre within the Thames Valley Cancer Network. The hospital features a purpose-built Surgery and Diagnostics Centre and an integrated Cancer and Haematology Centre. Oxford University Hospitals is renowned nationally and internationally for its excellence in services, teaching, and research.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high-quality, safe, and effective occupational therapy services to oncology and haematology patients, as part of a multi-professional team.
  • To collaborate with patients and their carers to assess, plan goals, and treat conditions, aiming to maximize independence and quality of life.
  • To supervise and teach recently qualified occupational therapists, support workers, and occupational therapy students.
  • To participate actively in quality improvement, clinical audits, and research projects.
