Job Overview

This is a full-time appointment for a Specialty Doctor to work on one of our general-adult (adults of working age - AOWA) inpatient wards (Bronte and Blake Wards in Laureate House). Successful candidates will be working with a multidisciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrists, psychiatry (ST and CT)/foundation/GP doctors in training, advanced nurse practitioners, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and support workers.

Main Duties of the Job

Clinical Role:

  1. Attend ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the ward.
  2. Complete, review, and authorize discharge summaries as required.
  3. MHA work including preparation of tribunal reports and presenting evidence at the tribunal hearings.
  4. Assess and manage physical health for patients on the inpatient wards.
  5. Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  6. Be involved in developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards.
  7. Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.

Educational Roles:

  1. Provide supervision and support to doctors in training working with the team.
  2. Provide teaching to medical students and doctors in training working in the trust.

Leadership Roles:

  1. Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  2. Be involved in developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards.
  3. Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration
  • 4 years full-time postgraduate or equivalent experience
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
