Job overview

This is an opportunity to join a successful service in a well-established post.

The role involves assessment and management of patients with severe and enduring mental illness in Salford's community. There are opportunities for skill development, including domiciliary assessments, MDT interactions, report writing, MHA work, teaching, training, supervision of junior doctors and medical students, as well as managerial, research, and clinical governance work.

Cromwell House has around 1200 patients; the current active caseload is 160 patients, including complex Care Programmes and standard care patients. The successful candidate would assess 2-3 new patients weekly and conduct follow-up clinics for 15-16 patients.

The candidate should be section 12 approved or eligible for approval and will be involved in Mental Health Act work.

Main duties of the job

All specialty doctors are expected to:

  • Undertake administrative duties related to patient care.
  • Record clinical activity accurately and submit promptly.
  • Participate in annual appraisal.
  • Attend and participate in the Trust's academic programme, including lectures and seminars.
  • Maintain GMC registration and, if approved, Mental Health Act Section 12 approval, adhering to professional conduct codes.
  • Participate in annual job plan reviews with the clinical manager.
  • Collaborate with local managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Comply with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Participate in investigations related to patient care.
  • Engage in service and business planning activities.
