Are you an outstanding Specialty or Associate Specialist Doctor looking for your next challenge in psychiatry - and a competitive salary?

We are seeking an experienced part-time specialty doctor (7 sessions) to work in our Scottish residential services.

You will be fully involved as a practising psychiatrist, supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and a first-class multidisciplinary team.

The Cygnet services covered by this role are:

  • Thistle House (Dundee, DD5 1PL) - 10 residents
  • Ellen Mhor (Dundee, DD1 2QH) - 12 residents
  • Lindsay House (Dundee, DD3 9AG) - 2 residents
  • Ranaich (Dunblane, FK15 0DR) - 14 residents
  • Trinity House and Trinity Lodge (Lockerbie, DG11 2DS & DG11 2AG) - 18 residents

Main duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide routine medical and psychiatric support, including initial clerking and mental state examinations of newly admitted residents.
  • Assess, investigate, diagnose, and treat residents under the supervision of a Consultant.
  • Maintain good communication with ward nursing staff, mental health professionals, and other agencies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, including CPA and Patient Review meetings.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of assessments and interventions.
  • Prepare discharge summaries following company policies and guidelines.
  • Attend mandatory training such as BLS, ILS, Breakaway, Moving and Transferring, Infection Control, and H&S.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other stakeholders; maintain appropriate reports.
  • Participate in the psychiatry on-call rota, on a 1 in 4 basis (moving to 1 in 5 with AMP status and experience).

Our CESR programme

This programme helps you develop skills to progress to Consultant level, with rotations across wards/services, educational supervision, and support for MRCPsych exams.

We are looking for someone who is...

  • Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Section 22 approval or eligibility for AMP training (advantage)
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in psychiatry
  • Familiar with the Mental Health Act and Adu
