Job summary

This is a full-time appointment for a Specialty Doctor to work across our general-adult (adults of working age - AOWA) inpatient wards. Successful candidates will work with a multidisciplinary team including consultant psychiatrists, psychiatry/foundation/GP doctors in training, advanced nurse practitioners, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and support workers.

Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities:

Clinical Roles:

• Attend ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients. Chair ward rounds and make decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from covering consultants when appropriate.
• Complete, review, and authorize discharge summaries as required.
• Perform MHA work, including preparing tribunal reports and presenting evidence at hearings.
• Assess and manage physical health for patients on inpatient wards.

Leadership roles:

• Participate in leading clinical decision-making within the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.
• Contribute to developing service clinical priorities aligned with national and professional standards.
• Engage in clinical governance activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.

Educational roles:

• Provide supervision and support to doctors in training.
• Deliver teaching to medical students and doctors in training within the trust.
