A leading healthcare provider in the United Kingdom is seeking a Specialty Doctor. This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to assess and manage mental health problems. Responsibilities include supporting the liaison service and liaising with relevant organizations. Applicants should have experience in psychiatric assessments and be well-versed in the Mental Health Act. This is a 2-year pilot, with the possibility of extension.
The liaison psychiatry service has been in place since August 2014, receiving around 200 referrals per month, consisting of both new patients and those with an existing diagnosis of mental illness.
There is an opportunity to work one day a week at Pankhurst House, an Approved Premises (AP) in Bedford for women, providing intensive supervision for those who present a high or very high risk of serious harm.
The Specialty Doctor will work closely with the consultant psychiatrists and be responsible for the assessment and management of mental health problems on a routine and emergency basis.
The post holder will work with a Band 6 nurse and admin support from Bedford community mental health team.
Section 12 Approval is desirable, and the ability to carry out Mental Health Act assessments and make recommendations under the Mental Health Act is required.
This is a 2-year pilot, with funding secured for 18 months, and the possibility of continuation.
