Job Description:

Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine

NHS Lanarkshire - University Hospital Monklands

University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is looking for an experienced Specialty Doctor to join its existing team of anaesthetists and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

The Anaesthetics Department is part of the Surgical & Critical Care Directorate, which provides services within a 7-theatre main operating suite and a stand-alone 2-theatre day unit. There is a 10-bedded Level II/III ICU, admitting approximately 600 patients per year, and 6 Level I surgical beds, admitting over 200 patients annually.

The successful applicant will contribute to the provision of general anaesthesia within the main theatre and day surgery unit, as well as the delivery of critical care, including out-of-hours work. The balance between critical care and anesthesia will depend on the candidate's preferences and service needs. There will be dedicated time for development of a special interest – such as Simulation, quality improvement, or clinical research.
