Job Summary

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a full-time Specialty Doctor for the Lyndon Community Mental Health Team in Solihull.

We seek a candidate with full GMC registration, Section 12(2) approval (or eligibility), with at least 4 years of postgraduate training or equivalent, including a minimum of 2 years in Psychiatry. MRCPsych or an equivalent postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry is desirable.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist and the wider multidisciplinary team. The Lyndon CMHT is part of the Solihull Community Hub.

Responsibilities include assessing new referrals from GPs and other referrers, making diagnoses, and formulating management plans. The team works collaboratively with various professionals, including nurses, psychologists, and physical health practitioners. Opportunities for career development and further training are strongly supported.

Job Responsibilities

See attached full job description. At least 50% of work should involve face-to-face patient contact, with a minimum of 32 contacts weekly, including home visits as needed.

Essential
  • Recognised medical degree
  • Full GMC registration
  • Eligible for Section 12(2) approval
  • At least 4 years postgraduate training, including 2 in psychiatry
  • Commitment to CPD
  • 2+ years in psychiatry, working with severe mental illness, preferably in community settings
  • Experience in teaching and clinical audit
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to travel across the community area
Desirable

  • Experience with diverse populations and social interventions
  • Participation in service improvement projects
