Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust ispleased to announce the introduction of these new roles aimed at doctors whoare passionate about their practice and their career outside traditionalmodels. Our posts will combine educationand career development with practical patient-facing care.

These posts are not recognised UKtraining posts. Nevertheless, MYDocdoctors will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking schedulededucational opportunities to consolidate and develop alongside theirexperiential learning, with certificated outcomes or credentialing to supportcareer progression through other routes.

Main duties of the job

Provide outpatient andinpatient services for general ENT, including head and neck, thyroid, andparathyroid surgery.

Perform DCC duties, includingclinical and administrative tasks, emergency and on-call responsibilities, andcontribute to quality improvement in line with specialty and Trust objectives.

Participate in themiddle-tier ENT on-call rota (currently 1:7), covering the acute base atPinderfields and supporting emergency services at Dewsbury and Pontefracthospitals.

Able to operate independentlyhigh volume and low complex cases

Run independent clinics,including acute and emergency clinics, and support and teaching to FoundationYear 2 doctors, Core Trainees (CTs), Advanced Clinical Practitioners, ClinicalNurse Specialists, and Nurse Practitioners.

Undertake administrativeresponsibilities. Office space, dedicated secretarial support, and networkedcomputer access will be provided. The post holder will also be supported by aConsultant Educational Supervisor.

Undertake SupportingProfessional Activities in accordance with the Trust framework, with a minimumof 1 SPA included in the core 10-PA timetable.

Participate fully in theout-of-hours on-call rota alongside senior colleagues.

Engage in outpatient clinicsand theatre activities.

Contribute to relevantadministrative responsibilities.

Teach and supervise juniordoctors and allied clinical staff.

Be actively involved inclinical audit, governance, and service improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Medical Degree from recognised medical school
  • Progress towards or attainment of Royal College Exams
  • ATLS, ALS, APLS or PALS certification
  • Higher qualification e.g. FRCS, MRCS, in ENT or equivalent
Experience
  • Completed at least four years full time hospital service junior or higher grade since first obtaining full or limited registration, including a minimum 2 years' experience in ENT
  • Able to do independent clinics and day case theatres
  • Experience of teaching clinical skills
  • Clinical research and development
