An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speciality Doctor to join the Emergency Department Team at North Manchester General Hospital, which is part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).This position provides the opportunity to work at a high-performing Emergency Department that is ranked as the second-best adult ED in Greater Manchester and a leader in ambulance turnaround times.
NMGH has a full Emergency Department, which includes an integrated paediatric emergency department, urgent treatment centre and co-located same day emergency care services. It also offers a full range of general and acute surgical services and is the base for the region’s specialist infection disease unit and Maxillofacial surgery.

Key Responsibilities
1. The post holder will be clinically and educationally responsible to the Consultants in Emergency Medicine.
2. The clinical duties will comprise: -
· Active participation in the reception, initial diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients attending the Emergency Department.
· Assessment and management of children and young people in the paediatric emergency department.
· Electronically document notes to a good standard maintaining professional standards
· Appropriately discuss and refer patients for inpatient assessment
· Communicate with other community services such as General practitioners, hospital at home services or care home staff.
· Refer to other clinics held within the hospital and the wider trust hospital services.
3. Provide support and supervision for resident doctors including FY2 grades, clinical fellows and GP trainees within the Emergency Department. This may take the form of advice regarding diagnosis and treatment or taking the lead of the shift out of hours as the Night EPIC depending on experience.
