Job summary

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Bradford is seeking a full-time Specialty Doctor to join the Dermatology Team at St Luke's Hospital. The post is based at St Luke’s with some duties at Bradford Royal Infirmary, and you will contribute to a growing dermatology service in a supportive NHS environment.

You will be clinically active, participate in governance, audits, and MDTs, and help develop protocols.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• Eligible for GMC full registration at appointment.
• Evidence of Foundation competencies by appointment per GMC.
• Evidence of ST1/CT1 competencies by start date.
• Specialty-specific qualifications (eg MRCP, FRCS) as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Provide a Dermatology service of the highest quality, including Cancer clinics/SKIN AI assessment and Dermatological Surgery.
• Develop Dermatology services and participate in MDT meetings.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of clinical protocols.
• Ensure standards through clinical governance, audits and appraisals.
• Work flexibly with colleagues to meet the hospital’s Dermatology out-patient activity.

Applications are invited for a full time Specialty Doctor post to work within the busy Dermatology Team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting time for the service as it continues to expand and applications are welcomed from enthusiastic clinicians but to part of this.

The post holder will be managerially accountable to the Clinical Director/General Manager and professionally accountable to the 2 Dermatology Consultants and the Clinical lead for the Specialty.

The post is based at St Luke’s Hospital where the Dermatology service is provided however some duties may be required at the Bradford Royal Infirmary site.

The post holder will be an active participant in clinical governance activity, audit and multi disciplinary management meetings.

Main duties of the job

The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service. The post holder will be expected to undertake the following duties.

Provide a Dermatology service of the highest quality. This includes programmed activities for:

• Cancer clinics/ SKIN AI assessment
• Dermatological Surgery

Develop the Dermatology services.

Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings (MDT).

Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ensure that standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, evidence-based research and appraisal.

Maintain personal professional development in accordance with the requirements of the Royal College and the General Medical Council.

Participate in annual appraisal.

Work in partnership with colleagues in the Dermatology Department.

Work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital’s agreed planned activity for Dermatology out-patient services.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols.

Ensure that new techniques (outside ethically approved research projects) are only introduced after appropriate training, with approval of the relevant clinical directorates and with arrangements for evaluation and an audit trail.

Experience

• Previous experience relevant to the specialty
• Clinical governance / audit experience
• Out of hours experience relevant to job
• Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
• Minimum of four years (FTE or equivalent) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent EEA training) of which at least 2 years training must be in the relevant specialty or a recognised equivalent training Applicant knowledge is up to date and is fit to practise safely Commitment for managing professional development
• Biopsy experience

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
• Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
• Evidence of achievement of ST1 / CT1 competencies in the specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2 / CT2 competences in specialty by the start date of the post
• Specialty specific requirements eg MRCP, FRCS, etc where appropriate
