A leading healthcare provider in Wales seeks a part-time Specialty Doctor in Breast Surgery. The candidate will perform surgical procedures, work closely with experienced staff, and ensure high-quality patient care in a dedicated Breast Unit. Essential qualifications include MRCS and relevant postgraduate training, and experience in Breast Surgery is pivotal.
Applications are invited for the part-time post of Specialty Doctor in Breast Surgery, working 6 sessions per week, based at The Breast Unit, University Hospital Llandough.
Applicants must have MRCS (or equivalent) and have a minimum of 4 years' full-time postgraduate training (or part-time equivalent), at least 2 years of which has been spent in a surgical specialty training programme or equivalent experience / competencies. Previous experience in Breast Surgery is essential.
Main duties of the job
The Breast Centre is part of the Breast and Trauma & Orthopaedics Directorate and is based in a purpose-built Breast Centre at University Hospital Llandough.
The facilities are solely used for patients with breast problems and provide a diagnostic service for over 4,000 new referrals a year from General Practitioners in the Cardiff and Vale area and some tertiary referrals.
The current team of Breast/Plastic Surgeons provide a full range of operative procedures for the patients, including a wide variety of oncoplastic techniques.
The patients are well supported by a team of very experienced Breast Care Nurses who work in close collaboration with the clinicians.
