Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics

The Anaesthetics Department at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic new specialty doctor to join our team.

The post consists of provision of anaesthesia on supervised weekday elective operating lists, and evening and weekend resident cover for emergency theatres, labour ward or critical care. The successful applicant will join a 1 in 9 resident rota (one of four out-of-hours resident rotas in anaesthetics and critical care).

Main duties of the job

We are a friendly department, with supportive colleagues and many opportunities for career development. The surrounding areas provide many amenities and exciting activities for individuals and families, and despite being in a rural area, there is also easy access by road or rail to major UK cities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full Registration with the GMC with a License to Practice
  • Primary FRCA or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Anaesthesia

Desirable

  • FRCA or equivalent
  • Post-Graduate Prizes

Clinical Skills and Training

Essential

  • Basic training in general anaesthesia, including paediatrics, and having attained Initial competencies.
  • Basic training in ICM and attained initial competencies
  • Basic training in obstetric anaesthesia and attained initial competencies
  • Up to date Immediate Life Support Training

Desirable

  • ALS / APLS / ATLS or equivalent
  • Relevant medical experience outside anaesthesia
  • Courses relevant to any sub- specialty interest

Teaching Experience

Desirable

  • Active regular participation in teaching and training of medical and para-medical colleagues
  • Formal Educational Qualification
  • Life support course instructor

Information Technology

Essential

  • Basic IT skills

Desirable

  • ECDL

Clinical Governance

Essential

  • Evidence of participation and understanding.
  • Evidence of reflective practice

Desirable

  • Evidence of completed Quality Improvement projects that have changed practice.
