Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Specialty Doctor in General Surgery to join our well established team in King's Lynn. The successful candidate will provide surgical services to the community served by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn NHS Trust and will play a key role with colleagues in further developing general surgical services. You will provide a varied service in general surgery involving in-patient and out-patient work and share in the 1:12 on-call rota. If this fits your profile we would love to hear from you. Responsibilities
  • Undertake outpatient clinics seeing follow-up patients and new cases under the supervision of the Consultant.
  • Undertake theatre lists to include day cases and surgery as appropriate under the supervision of the Consultant.
  • Undertake ward rounds with the Junior Medical Staff for the management of patients.
  • Provide intermediate level care for emergency admissions as required.
  • Undertake teaching of junior medical staff and other clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Participate in postgraduate activities and surgical audit.
  • Depudise from time to time for absent colleagues, where consistent with duties.
  • Be available for irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as essential for continuity of patient care.
  • Perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances as appropriate.
  • Carry out duties with due regard to the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff and attend relevant health and safety training.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard. Advanced Life Support (ALS) can be organised at the Trust; it is desirable to have before starting.
  • Admin & Clerical staff may be required to act as Loggists for a major incident.
  • All staff should be computer literate as part of the Trust's digital maturity program.
