A community health trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor for the Emotional and Behavioural Mental Health Team in Dunstable. The role involves assessing and treating young people with mental health difficulties, contributing to a supportive multidisciplinary environment. Candidates must be GMC registered and have experience in child and adolescent mental health. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
This is a community-based post, located within the Emotional and Behavioural Mental Health Team (EB1) offering assessments and treatments to a wide variety of clinical presentations. The post holder will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team. EB1 is a cohesive community based multi-disciplinary team within South Bedfordshire CAMHS, which provides assessment and treatment of young people presenting moderate to severe mental health difficulties. This includes young people who present with risk self-harm. The EB1 is composed of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (one full time consultant), Systemic Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy and Mental Health Nursing. The team model includes joint working between Psychiatry and allocated care-coordinator to provide young people and their families with developmentally informed evidence-based treatments. There is a high level of support within the team and regular supervision with the Consultant Psychiatrist.
As part of the EB1 team, the post-holder will offer generic CAMHS assessments and interventions. The post-holder will contribute to a day time emergency rota covering presentations of young people in crisis or who have deliberately self-harmed at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital and providing urgent psychiatric reviews (with support of consultant).
The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.
