An opportunity has arisen within the Royal National Ear, Nose & Throat & Eastman Dental Hospital for a part-time Consultant in Periodontology or Restorative Dentistry. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual wanting to join a dynamic unit at the forefront of Periodontology.

The 6 PA post is substantive and available to start immediately. It is a split post primarily based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospital, part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of University College London hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with an outreach component at Charing Cross Hospital. Successful applicants will join an established team providing a wide range of periodontal services including treatment, teaching, and research. Applicants should be innovative, dynamic in patient care and training, and capable of providing a Consultant-led service for patients with head and neck cancer and bone marrow transplants. They should have exceptional skills in complex management of periodontal patients, including advanced periodontal and implant surgery, and clinical research. The postholder will demonstrate leadership and management qualities, including team leadership and excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job

University College London Hospitals seeks a part-time substantive Consultant in Periodontology or Restorative Dentistry, with a specific interest in Periodontology and an outreach component involving oral health assessment and management of oral cancer patients with head and neck disease, starting immediately. The individual will be committed to excellence in education, clinical research, and high-quality patient care, with a focus on managing patients and learners with complex needs.

The post holder will serve as a role model, demonstrating a commitment to high-quality education, and must be confident in managing patients with complex treatment needs, including surgery, and supervising trainees. The outreach will include clinical research alongside pre-treatment assessment and management of oncology patients. Meeting performance targets and service initiatives is essential, as is teamwork. The candidate should have high expertise in periodontology and clinical research.

They will work closely with the Clinical Lead at RNENT & EDH Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital, the outreach site, and must meet the Trust's mandatory training requirements.
