Overview

A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust is seeking a specialty doctor in general adult inpatient psychiatry to join the inpatient team based at the Rivington Unit, Royal Bolton Hospital. This post is existing due to the current post holder moving to another post within GMMH.

Responsibilities
  • Have knowledge and skills in the assessment of patients presenting with mental health disorders.
  • Assess, formulate and manage risk (e.g. suicide risk, violence/aggression, absconding) relating to psychiatric conditions in inpatient settings.
  • Formulate management plans in complex cases, advising the inpatient MDT and wider divisional teams on integrated care.
  • Prescribing and advising the inpatient team on psychotropic medication.
  • Have knowledge and skills in using both the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act, and be able to advise others about their use.
  • The post holder will be required to seek approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983. If not already approved, the service will assist in acquiring this approval.
  • The post holder may occasionally be called upon to perform physical health examinations, venepuncture and ECGs and to interpret the results.
