NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million including regional and national services.
We are offering a position at Inverclyde Royal Hospital in the anaesthetic department as a permanent staff member on a 6.5 PA job plan. The department is welcoming and friendly, committed to providing excellent, safe, and patient-centered care.
The hospital serves as the elective Orthopaedic Hub for Clyde, with plans to expand colorectal surgical capacity. Other specialties include CEPOD, General surgery, Ophthalmology, Breast, ENT, Orthopaedics, Urology, Paediatric Dental, Plastic Surgery, and Gynaecology. The Acute Pain Service is consultant-led with input from an Acute Pain Nurse.
The department supports anaesthetic CT and ST trainees for elective specialty training. Opportunities exist for CPD meetings, educational activities, quality improvement, research, and collaboration with Royal Alexandra Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow.
As a specialty doctor, you'll cover the middle grade rota. There are opportunities to develop clinical interests, leadership, management skills, and to contribute to teaching and education. Support is available for FRCA Primary examinations.
The job plan includes 6.5 PA, consisting of two 12.5-hour shifts from 08:30 to 21:00.
Applicants should have full GMC registration, be eligible to work in the UK, and possess at least 3 years of experience in anaesthesia and critical care, capable of inter-hospital transfer of critical care patients with distant supervision.
