Specialty Doctor - Substance Misuse Treatment Service

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our Substance Misuse London Service. You will work under the Clinical Lead for the service and have responsibility to work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care for people who use our services. The successful candidates will be expected to provide a constant stimulus for improving clinical services and be a role model. They will have a recovery-focused approach to treatment.

Location: Whitechapel, London

Full Time Salary Range: £90,317.14 - £101,316.49 (dependent on experience and pro rata for part-time)

Contract Type: Fixed term until 31st March 2026

Responsibilities
Your Role & Responsibilities

As a Specialty Doctor, you will play a key role in delivering evidence-based interventions, ensuring that individuals receive the highest standard of medical care. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Clinical Assessments: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and physical health assessments.
  2. Medical Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and correspondence.
  3. Collaborative Working: Liaise with GPs, adult mental health services, social services, and prison healthcare.
  4. Specialist Prescribing: Initiate and oversee prescribing regimes in line with national guidelines.
  5. Phlebotomy & BBV Support: Conduct tests as needed and support vaccination programs.
  6. Safe Titration: Work alongside the nursing team to ensure safe induction onto treatment.
  7. Multidisciplinary Team Meetings: Contribute to care planning, risk management, and integrated care pathways.
About You

We are looking for a doctor who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and committed to improving outcomes for people with substance use disorders. The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Medical Degree with completion of Basic Medical Training and Full GMC Registration with License to Practice.
  2. Experience in delivering evidence-based treatments for substance misuse.
  3. Strong knowledge of addiction psychiatry, harm reduction, and relevant legislation.
  4. Excellent clinical communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. The ability to work autonomously and remain calm under pressure.
  6. A collaborative approach, working with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders.
