We are seeking an experienced full-time Specialty Doctor to work at Cygnet Newton House, providing psychiatric care in our mental health rehabilitation service for men in Blackpool.

You will be fully involved as a practicing psychiatrist, supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and a first-class multidisciplinary team.

Cygnet Newton House is a 21-bed specialist high-support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men, dedicated to providing a high-quality environment for promoting long-term recovery.

From the moment an individual arrives, the team works with them to maximize positive outcomes and recovery, focusing on discharge plans to enable the individual to move on to the least restrictive environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide routine medical and psychiatric support, including initial clerking and mental state examinations of newly admitted patients.
• Assess, investigate, diagnose, and treat inpatients under Consultant supervision.
• Maintain effective communication with ward nursing staff, mental health professionals, and other agencies.
• Participate in weekly ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings, including CPA, Tribunal hearings, and Section 117 meetings.
• Keep comprehensive records of assessments and interventions.
• Prepare discharge summaries following company policies and guidelines.
• Attend mandatory training such as BLS, ILS, Breakaway, Moving and Transferring, Infection Control, and H&S.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other stakeholders, maintaining proper reports.
• Participate in the regional on-call rota as needed.
