A post is available within Birmingham Dental Hospital & School of Dentistry to contribute to the delivery of Restorative services for the people of Birmingham and the West Midlands. The post will be graded as a Specialty Dentist grade with support for personal development and progression. This post will be held on a part time basis.
You will join an enthusiastic team, who are world leaders in research and are passionate about providing high quality patient care in the Restorative Department. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the teaching supervision of junior staff and dental undergraduates.
Within the Dental Hospital all of the dental specialities are represented by Consultant led Departments. Excellent liaison exists with Clinical and Laboratory Departments within the Acute NHS Trusts in Birmingham and a comprehensive range of investigative and reporting services are available.
The post holder will be involved in both delivering treatment and work on new patient consultant led diagnostic and treatment clinics. They will manage a wide range of restorative cases under the supervision and instruction of consultants working within the department.
The post holder will be expected to give advice and assistance to members of dental staff in training within the Department as the need arises. The appointee will be expected to participate in the clinical teaching of trainees and postgraduate dental students from time to time as things develop.
As a teaching unit, Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry undertake a wide range of research activities for which excellent facilities are available. The duties of this post are primarily of a service nature and as such, no specific requirement to pursue research is included. An interested appointee however, will be encouraged to pursue his or her interests, subject to the needs of the service.
Full participation in Hospital/Departmental Quality Assurance, Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance programmes will be a requirement of the post.
The post holder will be required to undergo an annual appraisal and job planning.
The post holder is responsible for fully complying with the Trust Control of Infection and Health and Safety Policies, bringing any matters of concern to the Line Manager.
