Job summary

Qualifications

  • MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Eligible for full GMC registration with license to practice.
  • Four-plus years in a full-time specialty training programme in General Surgery, with at least two in the relevant specialty.
  • European ALS certification.
  • Minimum 6 months experience in vascular surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital.
  • Comply with GMC Duties of a Doctor.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Undertake duties as defined within the job description in agreement with your clinical director.
  • Be responsible and managerially accountable for the use of Trust resources and professional accountability to the Medical Director.
  • Attend Corporate Induction on commencement.

Main duties of the job
  • The principle duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital.
  • To, at all times, comply with the GMC requirements of Duties of a Doctor
  • To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • To undertake duties as defined within the job description in so far as practicable and in agreement with your clinical director.
  • To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
  • On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's Corporate Induction.
  • To participate in the Trust's statutory and mandatory training programme
  • To be responsible for the clinical management of in and out patients under your care.
  • To comply with Trust policies and procedures where appropriate.
  • To ensure that all intellectual property rights of the Trust are observed.

Experience and Knowledge
Essential
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and skill.
  • Able to critically review and apply research to clinical situations.
  • Experience in teaching & supervising medical students and junior trainees.
Desirable
  • Able to organise and manage the department targets.
  • Understands the wider organisation and understands and values the need for efficient use of resources.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Has achieved MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Eligible for full GMC registration with license to practice
  • Completion of minimum 4-years' in a full-time specialty training programme in General Surgery or equivalent gained on a part-time basis, or other equivalent demonstrable experience and competencies. 2 of which must be in the relevant specialty as detailed in the person specification
  • European ALS
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in Vascular surgery
Desirable
  • Higher teaching qualification.
