About the Hospital:

Priory Hospital Bristol is part of the Healthcare Division of Priory Group, with 76 beds across 7 wards including Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Acquired Brain Injury, Huntingdon’s, and Dementia.

Role Overview:

The hospital aims to provide a person-centered, therapeutic environment that promotes collaborative care planning to optimize treatment goals. From admission to discharge, the focus is on supporting patients to recover and return to the community in a safe, less restrictive setting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Thorough assessment of individual needs throughout admission
  • Providing a range of interventions through a diverse multidisciplinary team
  • Caring for patients in the least restrictive environment

The hospital is situated in scenic surroundings on the outskirts of Bristol. The clinical team encourages involvement from patients, families, and external professionals, including Ward Reviews and CPA meetings, to ensure clear communication and promote recovery.

The successful candidate will participate in developing treatment plans and ensuring good medical practice within the MDT. Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00, with no on-call duties. RMO cover is available 24/7 for physical health care, admissions, and managing physical health needs outside of hours.

Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in a similar setting (preferred)
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (preferred)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007) and Code of Practice, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Ability to assess, interview, treat patients, and document medical notes clearly
  • Proven CPD record
  • Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists, Physicians, GPs, or equivalent (desirable)
  • Previous mental health inpatient experience (desirable)
  • Positive attitude, commitment to quality and improvement
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (preferred)
