Overview

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a full-time Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology to enhance the ophthalmology service at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. The role includes elements of general adult and paediatric ophthalmology, with a particular specialist interest in medical retina. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) with a mix of face-to-face and telephone consultations, plus an acute referral provision and day-case/general theatre activity. Participation in the Registrar on-call rota is optional for an additional supplement. A less-than-full-time job plan may be negotiated.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver general adult and paediatric ophthalmology services with a focus on medical retina.
  • Participate in all elements of ophthalmology departmental activity.
  • Provide face-to-face and telephone consultations as part of the 10 PA post.
  • Contribute to day-case and general theatre activity, supported by the existing post holder.
  • Engage in acute referral provision and contribute to service delivery as required.
  • Optional participation in the Registrar on-call rota for an additional supplement.
