Job description

We have two posts available. These appointments are offered as permanent posts as per details in the advert, with your principal place of employment being either Bronglais Hospital or Glangwili Hospital. However, other working locations, including off-site working, may be necessary and will form part of your agreed job plan. This is subject to change based on the Health Board's clinical requirements to meet the needs of the service and patients.

Main duties of the job

The role is for a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology, dealing with a wide range of ophthalmic diagnoses, high-volume cataract surgery, IVT, and emergency eye casualty.

You will work as part of the Ophthalmology service for the hospital and community, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of ophthalmological and related conditions.

You will contribute to a 1:7 on-call rota during the week and weekends, covering the entire Health Board catchment area.

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • At least 4 years of postgraduate training (full-time or equivalent), including 2 years in ophthalmology or relevant specialty training, or as a fixed-term specialty trainee, or MBBS or recognized equivalent

  • Experience in critical appraisal of evidence to improve clinical outcomes
