Walsall Council is seeking a Specialty Doctor in General Surgery to join their expanding team. This role involves patient care, outpatient clinics, and surgical assistance, with a focus on teamwork and high-quality healthcare. A fantastic opportunity has arisen due to the expansion of the General Surgery Department at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. The department is being expanded as part of a £1.8M investment in the clinical workforce across General Surgery and its sub-specialities. Included in this review of emergency and elective services, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is able to increase the Specialty Doctor workforce.
The post holder will join as a Specialty Doctor within the Department of General Surgery. This post will consist of 10 Programmed Activities per week and include participation in a 1 in 16 predictable on-call rota.
We provide integrated acute and community healthcare in the West Midlands, serving 260,000 residents. Our facilities include Walsall Manor Hospital, a full range of district general hospital services, a new critical care unit, Neonatal Unit extensions, and a state-of-the-art Emergency Department under construction.
Our community health services are multidisciplinary, including rapid response and home-based care, supporting those with long-term conditions and the elderly to remain at home.

This is a maternity cover contract for a Specialty Doctor in General Surgery. The successful candidate will support activities such as outpatient clinics, elective main theatre and CEPOD lists, MDT meetings, virtual clinics, and routine ward rounds.
As part of the team, you will work closely with clinical, medical, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare, support teaching, and adhere to Trust procedures and policies, conducting all work within the parameters of the Trust's service plans.
