Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Specialist Tutor to support pupils in Slough with 1:1 tailored tutorials. You will plan and deliver sessions designed to bridge gaps, build confidence and re-engage learners back into their daily routines.

Experience with SEN pupils (autism, SEMH, complex needs) and safeguarding knowledge are desirable. Roles are contract-based with flexible hours, starting ASAP, and paid at the minimum rate of 25 per hour, in line with experience and local scales.

Qualifications

• QTS/ QTLS/ PGCE or equivalent.
• 6 months+ experience in a UK school.
• Safeguarding training in the last year (desirable).

Job description

Specialist Tutor - Slough

As a Tutor, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lesson to bridge gaps in pupil's education and boost engagement and attainment levels. Most of these pupils will have been out of education for some time, so their confidence levels may be very low. It is your responsibility to reengage them in their learning and offer structure back into their daily routine.

We work with you closely to monitor the progression of each pupil by asking you to submit weekly reports, focusing on the highs and lows of the week and what subject areas were focused on. We also ask you to highlight engagement levels to ensure that the sessions are beneficial to the young person.

The students that require support are often SEN pupils with EHCP's, tuition often takes place at home and will be in within the following areas all around Slough. A strong background in supporting SEN pupils with autism, SEMH, and complex needs would be essential for this role.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

• QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or equivalent
• 6 months+ experience working in a UK school
• Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential)

To be eligible for this role, the potential Specialist Tutor must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child-related references.
• Have access to a personal computer and the internet.
