Job description

Location: RM8, East London
Hours: 2 hours per day (Monday-Friday)
Start: ASAP

We are currently seeking a Specialist Tutor to provide daily 1:1 support to a Year 8 student with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) in a home-based setting in RM8. The role requires a female Russian-speaking Specialist Tutor with experience in delivering personalised, sensory-rich sessions to students with highly complex needs.

Student Profile:

Born prematurely at 32 weeks

Visual impairment and significant physical disability (non-mobile, requires hoisting and full support)

Primary need: PMLD

Limited verbal communication (single-word level) and receptive language

Doubly incontinent and requires full personal care support

Benefits from daily massage, sensory play, and augmentative communication tools

Requires full-time supervision and emotional reassurance

Engages best when calm, comfortable, and given individual attention

The Specialist Tutor will be responsible for creating an engaging, emotionally supportive environment that meets the student's physical, emotional, and cognitive needs. The student's mother will be present at all times, and home conditions are excellent.

Key Requirements:

Fluent in Russian

Experience working as a Specialist Tutor or SEN professional with children with complex needs

Confident delivering home-based, child-centred learning sessions

Knowledge of sensory integration, PMLD strategies, and augmentative communication

Patient, compassionate, and skilled at building trust and emotional security
