We are looking to recruit a skilled individual to join our established specialist theatre technician team responsible for facilitating two venues at our city centre location, City Campus Manchester.

This position is permanent, on a full-time (35 hours per week) basis. You should be flexible with the ability to work evenings and the occasional weekend.

Our facilities include two venues, seven equipped studios, wardrobe and props store and a set design workshop.

The successful candidate will have strong skills in the field of Sound design and operation for theatre and have an excellent understanding of the professional theatre environment. As the team support from the initial design process to fit ups, plotting and operation of each production, the candidate must also be multi-skilled across other disciplines of theatre such as sound, rigging, set design and stage management. The ability to multi-task, being self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team and independently are essential.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential:

  • Level 2 English & Mathematics.
  • Industry relevant qualification as applicable by specialist function.
  • Previous industry experience working within theatre.
  • Strong skill in Sound for theatre – design, programming, and operation.
  • Lighting, rigging, working at height and associated health and safety practices.
  • An ability to prepare, set up and manage stage, lighting and sound equipment for performances and events.
  • First Aid qualification (or be prepared to work towards within first year).

Desirable:

  • Experience working within an education establishment.
  • On the DBS update service.
  • Driving licence.
