GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and skilled Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a nurturing school environment in Hull. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by providing targeted support to students who need it most.

About the Role

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support students with a range of additional needs, including learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and disabilities. Your role will be vital in helping students access the curriculum and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities of a Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Deliver one-on-one and small group interventions tailored to individual student needs.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support students with emotional regulation, social interaction, and academic engagement.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Track and report student progress to teaching staff and SENCOs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support.

Requirements of a Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and adaptability.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN, education, or child development are advantageous.
